Naturopathic Physician
Dr. Donna Caplan is a Naturopathic physician who has practiced natural family medicine since 1995. She is a licensed primary care provider in the state of Hawaii.
In her practice at Aloha Family Natural Medicine, Dr. Caplan utilizes both Western and Eastern medical diagnostic techniques to provide a comprehensive evaluation and implement a specific, individualized treatment protocol for each person.
She understands that everyone has a unique set of circumstances, both internal and external, impacting their health. Even thoughts and attitudes can profoundly affect one’s well being. With this view, Dr. Caplan tailors treatment plans to support each individual, addressing underlying causes of disease to help restore the vital healing energy inherent in all.
Natural Primary Care, Gynecology, Childbirth, Pediatrics, & Nutrition
Dr. Caplan has had extensive practice in family medicine, gynecology, and natural childbirth. She treats individuals of all ages from newborns, infants, toddlers, teens, and adults to elders, identifying and addressing all health needs.
She specializes in women’s health care, including menstrual-related conditions, fertility, and menopausal issues.
Dr. Caplan also specializes in food sensitivity identification and resolution.
Professional Associations & Volunteer Work
Dr. Caplan was the founder and medical director of Vermont Integrative Medicine for 17 years. She is a member of the Pennsylvannia Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Hawaii Society of Naturopathic Physicians and of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Caplan hosts “Health Talk” radio show on Kauai Community Radio Station every first and third Monday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. (Listen live streamed at KKCR.org or on the radio.)
She also founded and directed the Gar Tibet Health Project and a health care project in a rural mountain community in Honduras.
Medical Education & Training
Western & Eastern Natural Medicine
Dr. Caplan is a graduate of National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, a nationally accredited and the oldest naturopathic medical college in the United States. There she obtained a doctorate degree and natural obstetrics certification.
She also studied Chinese medicine at the Oregon School of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon and is certified in Transformational Hypnotherapy from Heartwood Institute in California.
Dr. Caplan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont.
